Hola!!!!!!!
Three things are changing: the leaves, the season, and my entire worldview. Is that dramatic?? Maybe!!
But for real. This experience is one I would not trade for the world. I’m exhausted, but we are exhausted together🌎👫🖤
I have had a lot of joy recently going on walks and looking at the beautiful leaves, feeling a lot of peace and serenity in God and His paintbrush. I love the cold weather, so bundling up and getting cozy is 🔥🔥 2 me.
I have a lot of things from this past month bubbling up in my head, but I really want to take a moment to brag & boast & beam about my host family.
This year I am Tyra Sloan! I live with Alex, Kellie, Shepherd (4), Scottie Jo (2) & Jackson aka Jimmy(🐕). The big looming question of who I was going to live with took over my mind for months before fellows, wondering and dreaming and praying that it would be a good fit. And boy was that prayer answered.
Our Tuesday night family dinners have become a sacred part of my week. Kellie cooks some absolutely fabulous meal and we mostly entertain conversation with the kids while having side conversations, catching up on our days. Usually we are having a personal or deep conversation while our toes are being painted with fake nail polish from under the table (thanks Scottie!). A few weeks ago we all layed on the floor and had a big game of Uno before bedtime (I think Shep won). After the kids go down, this is when the real party starts. Kellie, Alex and I get cozy and plant ourselves on the couch to watch Dancing With the Stars (we are big Connor Wood and Ezra Frech fans fyi btw). Through all the craziness that is being young parents, Kellie and Alex continue to amaze me in the ways that they care for me and pour into me. When my college friends get nosy and ask me how it’s been, I tell them it feels like more than just me living in their house, they make me feel like a friend. I love being Tyra Sloan! I could talk about this for hours.
A few more host family highlights/stories:
-Trick or Treating with Scottie & Shep aka Elsa & Spiderman
-Going into Scottie’s room when she wakes up and seeing how smiley & excited she is to see me
-Sitting in the kitchen with Alex and Kellie at 8pm on a Monday, hearing their heart for the broken and talking about how to carry that burden as a Christian
-Scottie wearing ALL of my necklaces to feel fancy
-Sharing my testimony with Alex & Kellie (highlight)
-Meeting their extended family and slowly building relationships with them (you try explaining to a neighbor who you are and why you’re living here and lmk how easy that is)
-Every Sunday night crazy Sloan family dinner with all the relatives I love it I love it I love it
Smiling through it all can’t believe this is my life.
P.s. Lilly and I were hamsters for halloween and I just needed that to have its place here. See below.
Peace and love,
Tyra Jones
